Although I emphasize that we shouldn’t depend solely on study tools, I recognize that these are of great help for our growth in knowing and understanding God’s Word.

Bible Gateway is an online platform where you can read the Bible in different versions and languages, access study tools, create an account to save personal notes, highlight texts, and even immerse yourself in the original languages of Scripture.

Whether you use it for reading or access it to search for verses, specific topics, or different translations, this tool facilitates the process of enriching yourself with the Word at any time. Additionally, it offers access to different study resources.

Although the experience is more comfortable on a computer, the platform is also available on mobile devices, allowing you to study the Word wherever you are.

The platform allows you to configure the reading page according to your preferences: you can activate or deactivate cross-references, notes, and verse divisions, and even highlight Jesus’ words in red if you desire.

These details may seem small, but they’re of great help for those who like to study Scripture more deeply or simply want a simpler and more organized reading.

Two access plans for Bible Gateway

Bible Gateway offers resources that can be accessed for free, but they also offer more resources in the paid plan, called Bible Gateway Plus.

You’ll find study Bibles, encyclopedias, commentaries, dictionaries, and thematic studies. If the resource is marked with “plus,” you need the paid plan, but there’s a considerable variety of material at no cost.

Bible Gateway can be your biblical reading platform, in addition to exploring the Bible.

Search by biblical passage, keyword, or theme

This is useful if you have a specific concern, a verse in mind, or are studying a particular topic. For example, if you remember part of a verse but don’t remember where it is, you can enter the phrase and find it. Additionally, you can search for characters or verses that mention, for example, gratitude.

Choose the Bible version

You can read multiple versions and also different languages. This can help you identify which version of the Bible you can understand better for your daily reading, and at the same time, comparing versions will help you understand it better.

Moreover, if you’re learning another language, you can begin reading the passages most familiar to you in that language.

Select the desired book and chapter.

You can also go directly to the book or chapter you want from the menu below the search bar. This way you can quickly access resources related to that chapter.

Options to personalize reading and deepen

From the preferences menu, you can adjust how the reading panel looks, whether showing or not:

Suggestion: Customize your reading to facilitate concentration. If you want simple reading time, eliminate the notes. If it’s time for in-depth study, take advantage of references and notes to explore the context.

Compare versions to better understand the Word

One of my favorite functions is being able to read the same verse in different versions, placing up to five different versions side by side. This helps me explore synonyms and then search for definitions that help me better understand the passage’s meaning.

If you create a free account, you can save your notes, mark verses with colors, and add personal comments. Each time you return to that passage, you’ll see a symbol that reminds you of your reflection or what God taught you in the past.

Additionally, from your content page, you’ll be able to see a list of all your notes. This can help you create your own study journal within the platform and reinforce what you’ve already learned.

Advanced tools: Plus plan and biblical originals

For those who want to deepen even more, the Plus plan allows exploring the original texts in Hebrew and Greek. This way, you can better understand the meaning and context of each word, enriching your interpretation and personal application.

It’s especially valuable for clarifying doubts or complementing your learning, always remembering that spiritual growth is a continuous process.

Even if you don’t know Greek or Hebrew, you can meditate on the original meaning of words by reading about the original meaning and incorporating it into the translation we have today.
